After President Barack Obama unveiled his Afghan war strategy at West Point Military Academy Tuesday, NBC news commentator Chris Matthews dubbed the military academy "the enemy camp."
Presumably Matthews meant he thinks the military is not as supportive of Obama as it would be of a Republican president.
"He went to maybe the enemy camp tonight to make his case," Matthews said. "I thought it was a strange venue."
Later Matthews backtracked - sort of.
"Maybe earlier tonight I used the wrong phrase, 'enemy camp,'" he said. "But the fact of the matter is that he went up there to a place that's obviously military."
