President Obama met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House Monday, praising his country for its work in Afghanistan.

Obama thanked Turkey for its "outstanding" contribution and said the the country can be a key partner in preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons and continuing to help in stabilizing Afghanistan.

Turkey's involvement in Afghanistan is important because it is the only Muslim country working with U.S. troops to defeat the Taliban and al Qaeda.

Turkey recently doubled the number of Turkish troops to more than 1,700 troops to help in stabilizing Afghanistan.
