Even as Congress reached a deal over President Obama's now $790 billion stimulus plan, Wednesday, opponents continued to rally against the bill and its hefty price tag.
Tuesday, New York Sen. Chuck Schumer called the plan "porky," claiming it allows too much wasteful spending at the American taxpayer's expense. And thousands agreed.
Americans for Prosperity, a public policy advocacy group, launched NoStimulus.com to petition the bill and has since gathered more than 200,000 supporters.
"There is growing citizen outrage against this spending nightmare and American citizens are not giving up," said Tim Phillips, president of the group.
The site urges opponents to "keep the pressure on" even though it may seem "too late" for parts of the bill to be changed.
