President Barack Obama's job approval rating has slipped three points in the past week, according to a new Gallup Poll finding.
The decline from 59 percent to 56 percent in one week is the sharpest drop thus far in Obama's presidency. The poll findings also highlight a drop from the president's 66 percent approval rating in May. Currently, 37 percent of Americans do not approve of Obama's work.
The Gallup poll comes on the heels of the president's national road trip to transform health care coverage, and his recent comments on the racially charged debate over Harvard professor Henry Gates' arrest.
Obama also saw a seven-point drop in support among Hispanics and a four-point drop among whites. But there has been no decline among black supporters.
According to Gallup, the poll shows that President Obama may have lost some political steam during July.
