President Barack Obama told America's senior citizens they have no reason to fear health care plans moving through Congress.
Seniors called in Tuesday to ask the president questions about the proposals during a town hall teleconference with the American Association of Retired Persons, or AARP, in Washington, D.C.

Critics of the president's proposal said it will lead to long wait times and the denial of coverage for seniors in need of costly procedures.
"This is not like Canada where suddenly we are dismantling the system and everybody's signed up under some government program," Obama said.
"All we're doing is we're saying, if you've already got health care, the only thing we're going to do for you is we're going to reform the insurance companies so that they can't cheat you," he said.
