President Barack Obama celebrated gay pride month at the White House, Monday, by inviting hundreds of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender activists to the East Room for a special event.
Despite recent moves to extend benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees, the gay community has been critical of the president for not pushing their agenda more forcefully.
Some say the event was to try and soothe that tension.
