Pennsylvania labor unions are promising to back the Republican party and in return they want their Republican Senator, Arlen Spector, to vote in favor of the controversial "card check" bill.
The backing of the labor unions would give Spector a big push in the upcomming primary election.
The Pennsylvania Labor Union has over one million members, most of which are registered Democrats.
"What we learned was that the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO has actually pledged to switch their members, register Democrats and register Republicans in order to help Mr. Spector have a very hard Republican primary election in 2010. That really just shows you the length they are going to secure his vote," president of the American Union Movement said in an exclusive interview with the Washington Times.
If passed card check would allow employees to form a union without a secret ballot simply by getting a majority to sign a card.
