Lawmakers in Congress will be receiving automatic salary increases this year despite the tanking economy.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday Congress would not be voting to do away with the cost-of-living pay increases.
However, Congress did vote to skip raises in 2010 and by doing so they defeated a measure that abolishes automatic pay hikes.
The U.S. Constitution allows Congress to set its own pay but requires them to provide that information to the public during elections.
