The White House is engaged in a war of words with the Fox News Channel.
Several advisors to the president have said that Fox News is not a 'real news organization.'
NBC reporter Savannah Guthrie asked President Barack Obama about the matter in a one-on-one interview this week.
"Do you think it's appropriate for the White House to say what is and what is not a news organization? Guthrie asked.
"What our advisers simply said is -- is that -- we are going to take media as it comes," Obama explained. "And if media is operating, basically, as a talk radio format, then that's one thing. And if it's operating ... as a news outlet, then that's another.
"But it's not something I'm losing a lot of sleep over," he added.
When asked about the White House attack on Fox News, radio talk show host Janet Parshall told CBN News it's another example of the erosion of Americans' most precious of liberties - free speech.
Fox News issued a statement defending the hundreds of journalists who work at the network, saying, "It's disappointing that the White House would be so dismissive of their fine work and continue their vengeful war against a news organization."
