President Barack Obama wants to extend parts of the Bush administration's Patriot Act, which was put in place after 9/11.
The Patriot Act is set to expire at the end of the year and Mr. Obama wants to extend three key parts of the law:
-The provision that allows access to business and library records;
-The "lone-wolf" provision that allows surveillance of possible terrorists;
-And the roving wiretapping provision which allows for wiretapping without court authorization.
Critics of the law say it infringes on a citizen's right to privacy.
