A Democratic congressman says he has enough votes to block a health care bill in the House, if the leadership doesn't allow a vote on abortion.
Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., is the co-chairman of the House Pro-Life Caucus.
He wants House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to allow an up or down vote on an amendment to prohibit using tax dollars to fund abortions.
CBN News White House Correspondent David Brody appeared on the CBN Newschannel's Morning program to give his analysis on the current health care debate. Click play to watch the interview.
Stupak told CBN News that even if the amendment is approved, he will have to read the bill very carefully before giving his support.
"I don't want any backdoor. We're very cautious," Stupak said.
The bill does not currently mention abortion. In the past, courts have ruled that taxpayer funds can be used to pay for abortion, if the law doesn't specifically forbid it.
