Sharron Angle, Republican candidate for Nevada's U.S. Senate seat, believes clergy should be allowed to endorse candidates from the pulpit.
The Christian conservative opposes laws allowing gays to adopt children and opposes making sexual orientation a protected minority in civil rights laws. She also favors laws that restrict the distribution of pornography and believes that federal involvement in public schools should end.
Angle, who has gained support from groups including the Tea Party Express and Club for Growth, expressed these views in a four-page questionnaire from a conservative organization that has endorsed her candidacy.
She recently accused Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid and Democratic lawmakers in Washington of trying to "make government our God" by expanding entitlement programs.
She also said students and teachers should be able to talk openly about religion in schools.
