Rangel Refuses to Resign Over Ethics Violations

New York Democrat Congressman Charlie Rangel said he's not resigning despite several charges of ethic violations.

He delivered a 40 minute speech Tuesday on the House floor that turned into a rant.

"But you're not going to tell me to resign to make me feel comfortable. So to all those who are trying to help me help myself, let me appreciate it. And for those who disagree, I'm sorry, but that's one thing you can't take away from me," Rangel said.

Even many of Rangel's fellow Democrats are calling for him to step down in order to avoid the issue from coming up during tough re-election battles this fall.
