President Barack Obama and his family won't be returning to Washington, D.C. as soon as expected. The president decided to extend their Hawaiian vacation a few more days.
Obama had a late start on his holiday vacation after staying in D.C. to work on legislation in Congress before the year ended.
A spokesman for the president said he wants to spend more time with his wife and daughters before returning to work, even though his daughters will miss a couple days of school.
This is the second time the Obamas postponed their return to the White House.
During his downtime in Hawaii, President Obama has spent much of his time at his family's rented oceanfront home and at a nearby marine base where he works out, golfs, and takes his family to the beach.
The first family will fly back to the nation's capital on Jan. 3.
