Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said he is considering a run for president in 2012.

Gingrich said he expects to make a decision by early next year.

In the meantime, he is focused on helping the Republican Party in the midterm races.

On Monday, Gingrich predicted that a Republican would Defeat President Barack Obama in the next election. He also called President Obama a "disaster" and the worst president in modern times.

Gingrich said he briefly considered a run for the Republican nomination in the 2008 election.
