For the first time, President Barack Obama will meet with Jewish Democratic lawmakers on Tuesday to discuss U.S.- Israeli relations.
The meeting, called by the president, comes as U.S. brokered talks between Israel and the Palestinians are set to resume.
This follows a diplomatic spat between the U.S. and Israel in March when an Israeli panel announced construction plans in east Jerusalem while Vice President Joe Biden was visiting the country.
Obama has said he supports Israel, but also wants an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.
