Powerful House Chairman Obey to Retire

A top Democrat in Congress announced Wednesday that he will retire at the end of his term.

Wisconsin Rep. David Obey is Chairman of the powerful House Appropriations Committee and has served 21 terms.

This year, he faced one of the toughest re-election battles of his career. Thirty-nine-year old Republican Sean Duffy is favored to win the seat.

Duffy has support from Tea Party groups and Republicans, like former Vice President nominee Sarah Palin.

Obey's retirement is seen as a huge blow for Democrats who are trying to defend their House majority.
