Phil Kerpen, vice president of Americans for Prosperity, is calling Tuesday's midterm election a referendum on what he has termed the "Obama-Pelosi-Reid" agenda.
According to a new Rasmussen poll, 52 percent of Americans share his sentiment, saying President Obama should change direction if the GOP win control of the House. Thirty-eight percent of those polled disagreed, saying the candidates and issues are paramount.
The survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted Oct 28-29.
If the latest Rasmussen data hold true, Kerpen said the marching orders for the next Congress and for the Obama administration should be clear:
- Washington cannot and should not try to control voters' lives.
- Washington cannot and should not tax and regulate away Americans' economic freedom.
- Washington cannot and should not spend trillions of dollars America doesn't have on programs America doesn't need.
- President Obama should learn the same lesson former President Bill Clinton learned in 1994: the era of big government is over.
