U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski is claming victory in the still undecided Alaska Senate race.
Murkowski faced challenger Republican candidate Joe Miller during the midterm elections.
Her hopes for re-election relied on winning a write-in campaign after having been ousted as the party candidate during Alaska's primary. Those ballots are now being counted, and so far, she holds 89 percent of the vote.
Still, thousands of ballots have not been counted. Close to 10 percent of the write-in ballots are being challenged because of misspellings or bad penmanship.
Murkowski's campaign says these challenges are only delaying the inevitable.
