Campaign Ad Labels Christian Senator an Extremist

Florida state Sen. Dan Webster is being compared to a Taliban member as his opponent seeks to paint him as a religious extremist.

In a new television ad, endangered Congressman Alan Grayson calls his Republican opponent "Taliban Dan."

Webster is a Christian, but the black and white campaign ad labels him a "radical fundamentalist."

"Religious fanatics try to take away our Afghanistan, in Iraq and right here in central Florida," a female voice said in the ad.

The narration is mixed in with video of Webster reading a Bible passage, "Wives, submit yourself to your own husband... She should submit to me. That's in the Bible."

CBN News Senior Editor John Waage has more on the controversial ad.  Click play for his reaction.

"Daniel Webster wants to impose his radical fundamentalism on us," the ad continued. "He wants to force raped women to bear the child... Taliban Dan Webster -- hands off our bodies and our laws."

The ad cites votes from 1990 in favor of covenant marriage, which bars couples from divorcing except in the case of adultery.

Grayson is one of the Democrats' top incumbents to defend in the midterm elections.
