Leaders and dignitaries from around the world gathered Friday to remember late Ambassador Richard Holbrooke.
At a memorial service at the Kennedy Center, President Barack Obama hailed Holbrooke as a man who "served his country until his final moments."
Vice President Joe Biden and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari were also in attendance.
Holbrooke was a U.S. diplomat credited with helping end the war in Bosnia.
Most recently, he was given the task of bringing peace to Afghanistan.
He died last month at the age of 69.
