Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus told CBN chief political correspondent David Brody that the Republican Party will not apologize for being a solid pro-life party.
The GOP leader reaffirmed the party's pro-life plank ahead of next week's convention in Tampa, Fla.
Priebus' assertion comes amid the controversy over Missouri Rep. Todd Akin's comments about abortion and pregnancy.
"Just because Todd Akin says something biologically bizarre doesn't mean that life suddenly doesn't begin at conception," Priebus told the "The Brody File Show."
The chairman said the media's attempt to paint Republicans as divided and extreme on the abortion issue is nonsense.
"We're a pro-life party," he said. "We have always been a pro-life party and I think that we live in a pro-life country, so I like where we sit on this issue."
Also featured on this week's Brody File Show are former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and CNN's Wolf Blitzer.
