Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., are battling for the top spot in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
Santorum is ahead of Romney in several national polls. The former Pennsylvania senator is also inching ahead in Michigan, Romney's home state.
Romney was born in Michigan, where his father served three terms as governor. The state holds its GOP primary on Feb. 28.
**CBN News Chief Political Corresponded David Brody spoke about Santorum's current lead in the polls and if he can maintain that lead, his surge in support from groups of Republicans, and the latest on Newt Gingrich, on CBN News "Newswatch," Feb. 15.
He and Santorum are already taking to the airways there, attacking each other and trying to win over voters.
"Now when I grew up in Michigan, it was exciting to be here. I remember going to the Detroit Auto Show with my dad," one Romney campaign television commercial said.
"Romney and his super PAC have spent millions brutally attacking fellow Republicans," a Santorum television commercial claimed.
