Rick Warren Invites Obama, Romney to Forum

Pastor Rick Warren has invited President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney to a presidential forum at his church in Southern California in August.

The purpose of the upcoming forum is "to promote social civility so that people with major disagreements [can] talk without beating each other up," Warren told Fox News.

The format would be the same as in 2008 when he spoke with Obama and Sen. John McCain each for one hour. The event could be televised if both candidates accept the invitation.

Warren, who pastors Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., gave the invocation during Obama's 2009 inauguration.
