Two Republican senators are criticizing an extravagant judicial conference planned for later this year.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is set to hold a taxpayer-funded conference in Hawaii in August. Some of the events include paddle board lessons, a golf tournament, and a snorkel trip.
In a letter to the court, Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., said the conference seems more "like a vacation than a business trip."
"We are concerned that using the tax dollars of the American people to pay for a conference of this sort is not the most appropriate use of funds," they wrote.
Their complaints come after the controversy surrounding a lavish Las Vegas conference held by the General Services Administration.
CBN News will have a special report on wasteful government spending on conferences, on Wednesday's edition of "The 700 Club." Check your local listings or check CBNNews.com May 23 after 10 a.m. ET for that report.
