Congress Ends Recess, Ready to Tackle Debt Limit

Ad Feedback

The House and the Senate will convene this week after a five-week vacation, but don't expect much to happen in the two months before Election Day.

Big issues, like extending the Bush tax cuts and cutting government spending probably won't be addressed, even though analysts predict the economy will go off a 'fiscal cliff' if that doesn't happen before the end of the year.

One major task that will be tackled is raising the debt limit to avoid a government shutdown.

That measure is expected to pass both houses by next week.
