One of the architects of the Senate's failed gun control bill is bringing the measure back.
West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin says there was confusion over the first bill. He says his new plan is simple and will focus on criminal and mental health background checks.
"If you're going to a gun show, you're going to expect to have a background check," Manchin said. "If you're buying online, whether it's an out-of-state gun or in-state, a background check. No intervening at all with family transfers or any individual rights whatsoever."
Meanwhile, gun control is low on the public's list of important issues.
