A majority of Americans support defunding Obamacare, according to a new poll by Heritage Action for America and Basswood Research.
Researchers interviewed voters from 10 different congressional districts and found 57 percent of independent voters want Congress to pull the plug on President Barack Obama's health insurance law.
Overall, 77 percent of voters want to slow down implementation of the law or completely repeal it.
"This poll demonstrates that the Left cannot win the argument on either the policy front or the political front," Heritage CEO Michael A. Needham said.
"House Republicans should be much more concerned with the fallout of failing to defund Obamacare than with the imaginary fallout of doing so," he warned.
The first major phase of Obamacare is set to kick in October.
