The chief architect of Obamacare said Americans misunderstood what President Barack Obama really meant when he vowed Americans could keep their doctors under the new health care law.
"(The president) never said you were going to have unlimited choice of any doctor in the country you want to go to" and that "if you want to pay more for an insurance company that covers your doctor, you can do that. This is a matter of choice," Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, former Obama adviser and chief architect of the president's healthcare law, told "Fox News Sunday."
Emanuel added that no one ever promised premiums wouldn't increase.
"We know in all sorts of places you pay more for certain - for a wider range of choices or a wider range of benefits," he said.
So if you want to pay more to keep your doctor, Emanuel said you're free to do that under Obamacare.
