The Senate Finance Committee has approved President Obama's pick as the next treasury secretary, former White House Chief of Staff Jacob Lew.
Lew's nomination will now be sent to the full Senate for confirmation. He was tapped by the president to succeed Timothy Geithner.
The Senate committee approved Lew's nomination 19-5. It's still unclear when the full Senate vote will take place.
