WASHINGTON - While the still-fragile economy braced itself for the gradual but potentially grave impact of $85 billion in across-the-board spending cuts, the president and Republicans used their weekly media messages to blame one another. President Barack Obama says "Republicans in Congress chose this outcome" but not budging on tax hikes. Washington state Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers says Republicans have "done the work and shown that these choices can be made in a responsible, thoughtful way."
