Cyber security is at the forefront of new legislation in the Senate. The bill moves to crack down on cyber espionage and the theft of data from American companies. It's called the "Defer Cyber Theft Act."
It was introduced Wednesday ahead of a Senate hearing on how law enforcement responds to cyber attacks.
The FBI says its becoming increasingly important for law enforcement to be able to combat such attacks in cyberspace.
"These intrusions into our corporate networks, personal computers and government systems are occuring every day. Such attacks pose threats to our nation's security and economy," said Joseph Demarest, Jr., assistant director of the FBI's Cyber Division.
Just this week, the Pentagon released a report to Congress accusing the Chinese government of Cyber-spying against the United States.
