Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said he believes gay couples should be able to adopt, according to USA Today.
Ryan said he has recently changed views on the issue. Back in 1999 he voted in favor of banning same-sex couples from adopting in the District of Columbia. Today he says he would vote differently.
Ryan went on to clarify that he still believes marriage is between a man and a woman, but children deserve to be loved.
"I do believe that if there are children who are orphans, who do not have a loving person or couple ... I think if a person wants to love and raise a child, they ought to be able to do that. Period. I would vote that way," Ryan said, according to a video posted on the liberal Think Progress website.
