Lawmakers in Washington are fiercely debating comprehensive immigration reform.
"Engaging a biblical narrative as a metaphor, the immigration cause no longer resides in the Egypt of political apathy or the desert of inevitable deportation," Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, head of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, said. "Today, this just cause stands before the 'Jordan' called reform."
It appears, however, the public isn't paying attention to the immigration debate.
A Pew Research Center poll shows only 44 percent say they're following the debate closely, and 38 percent don't have an opinion on the measure under consideration in the Senate.
Rev. Rodriguez, who sits on the Evangelical Immigration Table, talked with CBN News's Heather Sells about the progress and pitfalls on the path to immigration reform on CBN News Channel Morning News, May 8. Click play above to see his comments.
