President Barack Obama's pick to replace Attorney General Eric Holder is headed for a confirmation vote in the U.S. Senate Thursday.

The vote comes five months after Obama nominated Loretta Lynch for the job - and only after a deal was reached Wednesday on a human trafficking bill in the Senate.

Lynch is expected to win approval with the support of all Democrats and at least five Republicans.

The 55-year-old serves as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

With Thursday's vote in the Senate, she becomes the nation's first black female attorney general.
