Trump, Clinton's Emails Main Attractions at Iowa Fair

GOP frontrunner Donald Trump was the main attraction at the Iowa State Fair this weekend. He's being called the Republican "maverick" and he stole the show.

Love him or hate him, Iowans turned out in droves to hear what he had to say.

"I'm not even supporting him but we're talking about him," one attendee admitted.

"There hasn't been nobody like him," another said.

Iowa is an important early primary state and this year, both the Republican and Democratic frontrunners attended the fair.

The GOP frontrunner is making illegal immigration his showcase issue, releasing his first policy paper on the issue over the weekend.

"We're building a wall -- it's gonna be a wall, no one is going through my wall," Trump said.

Trump plans to force Mexico to pay for his border wall by hiking fees on U.S. visas for Mexicans. He said he'll also end birthright citizenship and triple the number of immigration officers.

Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton also made a campaign stop at the fair where she wasn't able to escape her email scandal.

"The facts are the same as they have been from the very beginning of these questions being raised," she said. "And most importantly, I never sent classified material on my email and I never received any that was marked classified."

A State Department official, however, told The Washington Times that the total number of Clinton's emails identified as classified has now reached 60.

That doesn't include the two emails recently identified by the inspector general as containing "top-secret" information, indicating it included some of the nation's most sensitive secrets.

Clinton said the entire email scandal is about politics, just Republicans out to hurt her campaign.

But Trey Gowdy, chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, said on Fox News Sunday this weekend that this isn't an issue of partisan games.

"The inspector general isn't partisan, neither one of the them. In fact they were confirmed by President Obama and confirmed by a Harry Reid-led Senate," he said.

"The FBI is not partisan," Gowdy continued. "I get that she's frustrated, her poll numbers are tanking, folks that never thought about getting in the race are getting in the race. But she need not blame House Republicans for having her own personal server."

Trump also weighed in this weekend on the Clinton email scandal, saying that at some point it will cause her to suspend her campaign.

"I think at some point that's ultimately going to happen. At some point she's got to. Look at Gen. Patraeus -- he was destroyed for much lesser crimes," he said.

During an interview with Breitbart News, Trump said he expected Clinton to be taken down by her email scandal and the General Election to be between him and Vice President Joe Biden.

A new national poll shows Trump is still holding on to his big lead. Ben Carson has jumped to second.
