Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida, son of a president and brother of a president, launched his bid for the Republican presidential nomination today. He is the eleventh GOP hopeful to set his eyes on the Oval Office.

Bush spoke at a rally at Miami Dade College near his south Florida home. He vowed to get Washington "out of the business of causing problems" and to stay true to his beliefs.

Bush told CBN News he's got a great record to run on when it comes to conservative values.

"When I was governor we created the first pro-life license plate to be able to provide counseling for people, the first I believe in the country. Two million dollars in appropriations for crisis pregnancy centers," Bush said.

"We regulated abortions," he continued. "We created a constitutional amendment to require parental notifications for abortions. The Terri Schiavo case came during my time. I have a pretty proven record on respecting life from the beginning to the end."

His positions on immigration and education standards, however, are unpopular with some Republicans. Mark Meckler, a co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots calls them "a nonstarter with many conservatives."

Bush, who is bilingual, spoke partly in Spanish during his announcement speech. It's part of his campaign strategy to make minority outreach a priority.

Neither his father, former President George H.W. Bush, nor his brother, former President George W. Bush, attended the rally. His mother and former first lady Barbara Bush did attend, however as well as his wife and son George P. Bush, the recently elected Texas land commissioner.

The campaign logo "Jeb!" conspicuously leaves out the Bush surname, indicating perhaps the de-emphasis Bush will place on his extended family.

Many analysts consider Bush to be one of the top-tier candidates in the GOP race. However, no Republican hopeful as of yet is considered to be the front-runner.
