Federal Cyber Chief Resigns ahead of Hacking Probe
02-23-2016
The lead technology official for the Office of Personnel Management has resigned.
OPM Cyber Chief Donna Seymour's departure comes just days before a congressional oversight committee hearing on the breach at the federal agency, which compromised the personal files of 21 million Americans.
Seymour said leaving was a tough decision, but it was necessary to keep from distracting the office from the work it does.
American leaders established a new agency to handle background checks last month and shifted security responsibilities to the Defense Department.
