Obama Moves to Close 'Gun Show Loophole'
President Barack Obama is announcing new measures Tuesday aimed at closing the so-called "gun show loophole."
He's doing it with executive actions since he hasn't been able to convince Congress to approve new gun restrictions.
The president's measures include expanded background checks on gun sales and forcing more sellers to register as federally licensed gun dealers.
The changes would be aimed at those who sell through gun shows, online or informal settings.
Other moves include beefing up inspections of licensed dealers.
The president admits the new measures would have a limited effect.
"This is not going to solve every violent crime in this country. It's not going to prevent every mass shooting. It will potentially save lives," Obama said.
