CWN.org - Higher food prices and the global financial crisis have pushed 40 million more people into "chronic hunger" this year.

The new numbers bring the total of starving people in the world to 923 million-- the majority of them living in Asia and Africa.

Amd the United Nations warns that number will likely go higher.

Those at greatest risk include homes headed by single moms and people who do not own land.
