CWN.com - The Bible tells that God uses certain individuals for the gift of healing. Recently in the Philippines, Father Fernando Suarez, tagged as the "healing priest," has given much hope to the Filipinos in administering healing to his countrymen.
Suarez lives in Canada, but he comes to the Philippines every year to conduct healing sessions. He first discovered this gift of healing at a young age of 16.
"I once saw a lame old woman, and I told her if she wanted to get healed, I (could) pray for her, but not to expect a miracle to happen in return," he remembered. "To my surprise, she got healed!"
Thousands of faithful from all walks of life continue to flock into the healing sessions of Father Suarez hoping to be touched by the healing priest. The scorching heat, they say, is just a small sacrifice and it's nothing compared to the healing that they will receive from God.
But Father Jeff Shannon, a long time friend of Suarez says, people should not worship him for the miracles they receive.
"Father Fernando's main thing is he's always pointing to the fact that (he is) only an instrument of God, (he is) only a vessel," he said. "(He is) not the healer. Jesus is the healer."
Shannon added that people have a greater need than physical healing alone.
"The bottom line is they're sick, and they're looking for God. They're in search for God," he said. "There's a hunger for God, and we're seeing that all over the world. Wherever we go, people want to find God."
Father Saurez hopes that those who come to him for their physical needs, will also find healing in their spirit and soul.
