An Arkansas school district may add a Bible class to next year's curriculum.
"The Bible in History and Literature" would be an elective for high school seniors in the Westside school district.
Superintendent James Best said the class is about history, not theology, and hoped the community would support the effort.
"Within our country's literature base, kids read everyday that religion had a role and if you pull that religious element out, there's a vacuum, a hole there," he said.
The school district expects to have approval from the state department of education soon.
