The president delivered a personal thank you this week to the security guard who took down a gunman inside a Colorado church.
Jeanne Assam shot and wounded Matthew Murray last December after he started his deadly rampage at New Life Church in Colorado Springs.
Murray killed two church members, but Assam was credited for stopping his attack before more lives were lost.
Since then, Assam has been praised by her church, but she says getting to meet the president has been the biggest honor.
"It was a thrill," she said. "It was a dream to meet him and I got to...he said 'well done, good job', and he was proud of me for what I did."
Assam said God gave her the strength to shoot the gunman, who eventually took his own life.
