CBNNews.com -- Residents in the waterlogged Midwest now have a new problem to deal with.
The flooded region has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
People are finding 20 times the normal number in parts of Iowa and five times more in and around Chicago.
"Every time I stop to rest at a rest area these buggers just find a way to bite me all over my neck area between my helmet and jacket," biker Larry Crystal said wrote on a bikers' blog.
Experts say the weather conditions are ideal for the pesky insects. Last week, 3,674 mosquitoes were counted in Ames-area traps
But they say these surging numbers are mostly floodwater mosquitoes and not the kinds that carry disease.
