Sometimes a card and a necktie for dad just won't do.

So for this Father's Day, Meghan McCain decided to become a Republican.

Meghan is the 23-year-old daughter of unofficial GOP presidential nominee John McCain.

Thursday, she changed her party affiliation from Independent to Republican.

"(I did this) as a symbol of my commitment to my dad and to represent the faith I have in his ability to be an effective leader for our country," she said.

On this Father's Day weekend, CBN News took a look back at the man who is often referred to as the father of this country: George Washington.
