A Washington State woman never dreamed that her coffee habit would lead to a lifesaving kidney.
For the last three years, Annemarie Ausness ordered coffee from the same Starbuck's barista, Sandy Anderson.
One day their brief, over-the-counter conversation turned to her need for a kidney.
The next thing Ausness knew, her barista offered to be the donor.
"The world just stopped. It was just her and I for a moment. And I didn't really see the line. It was just that moment in time, that was the turning point for both of us," Ausness recalled.
"Life's just too short not to live it, you know? So, if I can help somebody else do that, it's a good thing," Anderson said.
The pair turned out to be a perfect match and had the surgery today.
