CBNNews.com - CAIRO - Along with a $23 million aid package to help Egypt with rebuilding the security wall at the border with the Gaza Strip, the US plans to send teams from the Army Corps of Engineers to help Egyptian forces locate smuggling tunnels.
Construction on the stone wall erected to reseal the breached wall blown up in January is nearing completion. Egypt has deployed 750 specially trained security forces to the area.
Following a meeting with Egyptian intelligence head Omar Suleiman earlier in the week, General Amos Gilad traveled to Washington for discussions on the reopening of the Rafah border crossing to the Gaza Strip.
According to an Israeli official, the complexities of the situation at the border will require more time to fully resolve.
"More time is need to take care of all the sensitive issues," he said.
