The failing economy has prompted two Christian organizations to announce layoffs.
Focus on the Family is eliminating more than 200 positions - that's 18 percent of their workforce.
"What people have been reading and hearing about in terms of the economy has affected our donors and therefore led our board of directors to set our budget at $138M down from $160M so that necessitated, sadly, some program and position eliminations," Focus on the Family Vice President Gary Schneeberger said.
Meanwhile, Oral Roberts University will cut a hundred of its employees - that's about 10 percent of the university's workforce.
The announcement comes days after the university agreed to a nearly $450,000 separation settlement with its former president.
Richard Roberts stepped down last year over allegations he misspent school funds to live in luxury.
The school says the layoffs and the settlement are not connected.
