Dozens of California churches linked by broadcast satellite, held a rally in support of a state constitutional amendment that would define marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Proposition 8 will end same-sex marriages in California if it passes on November 4.

Reverend Jim Garlow, whose Skyline Church hosted the rally, urged Christians to be loving, but fearless in upholding the Biblical definition of marriage. He said many people who disapprove of same-sex marriage have been frightened into silence.

"The number-one ingredient that causes people to compromise is when their desire for respectibility from other persons outweighs their reverent fear of God," said Garlow. "We must fear God more than man -- whatever it costs us."

Garlow and other pastors in the simulcast event urged California Christians to fast and pray and get out the vote in favor of Proposition 8 on Election Day.
