CBNNews.com -- Texas Christian University is back peddling on previous plans to offer separate housing for gay and lesbian students.
The university's new housing community was scheduled to open this fall for homosexual students and their supporters.
However, TCU's plan created a heated debate and now the school is putting their plans on hold.
Many students have let their voices be heard on the matter.
"And that's also starting off as, 'Well, we're different, so we all want to live together," said student Melinda Rowe. "So that could definitely create lots of problems on campus."
"While I understand some of what they are facing," said student Shelly Newkirk. "I'm also disappointed, because I know a lot of students were excited for it."
TCU's chancellor Dr. Victor Boschini says the university "will maintain its long-standing commitment to the inclusiveness of all people.".
